Mission

My mission “is to share some of my experiences with others like me. I hope that my story will help you to discover the “hero” inside of you, and allow you to fulfill your dreams.”

“Remember, a flower that can bloom through adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all.”

Values

“I am very proud of my independence and how much it has helped me with my self-esteem.”

“In my high school years, I was integrated into more and more regular classes. Not to say that I did not have my fair share of problems, like bullying, and at times the bullying really got to me. [No one should have to experience bullying from others.] It helped to have the support of my teachers and friends” – and I want to help others cope by sharing my experiences.

During my two years at Sault College, in the Community Integration through Cooperative Education, I learned how to do something that you think that you really cannot do. I learned about persistence; how to stay true to your goals; how to accept help from others; and how to achieve what I (and others) thought was not possible.

My Philosophy of Life

“Just a few wise life words for my readers to keep in mind; Beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder and even though we are all different, we are all in this beautiful thing called life together – so think about love before you think about indifference. Also, remember that we are all masterpieces, and have our (own) special gifts to give this world we share.”

Excerpt from the conclusion from Allison’s book “Inclusion is Beautiful”

In my life, “I have learned that inclusion is beautiful. I have made it my life’s mission to promote and advocate for inclusion. I believe that as long as you do your best with whatever you are given, you will truly make a difference. Just remember – we are all unique and have our own talents to show the world. I hope that by sharing some of my experiences, it will help you to discover the “hero” inside of you and allow you to fulfill your dreams, whatever they may be.”

Inclusion means we are able

As you read in the section entitled “My Story”, I have had a life-long connection with Empower Simcoe. Their mission, in many respects, has become my mission. For that reason, I would like to share some of their thoughts about their purpose and role that I too embrace.
